Contrary to popular, albeit false, opinion, polar bears appear to be just fine, according to wildlife officer Theo Ikummaq who has spoken with Inuit hunters who say polar bears are approaching human-populated areas but they’re not skinny or sickly. Hunters are reporting well-fed polar bears wandering in packs with their mothers and multiple cubs. Even with sea ice being around the island of Igloolik, a region in northern Canada, all summer, the polar bears still came to human camps in search for food. What’s the saying? If you tell a lie enough times, it begins to be accepted as truth?
