Where is the Accountability?
Lies. Deception. It’s become clear over the past weeks and months that intentional deception has gone into portraying the global warming myth as a valid, science-backed man-made phenomena. In reality, it seems those pushing the hoax were complicit in their actions and grasping at any means necessary to manipulate and use data to back up their claims to show a warming planet and depict already-in-motion effects of anthropogenic sources of greenhouse gas emissions.
The sheer arrogance of those caught red-handed is amazing. Once upon a time, men and women felt shame for disgraceful actions and bowed from the scene, permanently ostracized for their involvement in manipulative schemes. These individuals carried an invisible but very real scarlet letter.
In today’s world, the wrong-doers will not submit to shame. Instead, in what I view as mockery of those few who call for their resignations, they refuse to be shamed and continue to work for their cause, unfazed by the negative publicity and vowing to make things better going forward.
But let’s face it: our collective memories are short. The day-to-day wall of information, the constant breaking news updates and the latest shocking tabloid news from A-list celebrities push the old information out of our minds. Unless one is focused on a narrow topic or is an autistic savant, information is lost and events and people around the world go back to normal.
This is the hope of many politicians, whose very careers are based on the forgetful public. The same applies to those in positions of power around the world. What would once have been disastrous scandals or even voting decisions are soon forgotten and replaced with the latest news from Paris Hilton.
Rajendra Pachauri, the IPCC chief responsible for the 2007 UN climate change report which contained the erroneous Himalayan glacier melt data, knew about the error prior to the Copenhagen Summit. Instead of coming forth with the appropriate information at the climate conference, the truth behind the error was hidden from the public until January 22nd. But instead of taking responsibility for the egregious error, resigning and entrusting someone more qualified for the position, Pachauri has decided to remain as climate chief.
Where is the accountability? Where are folks like Al Gore and Barack Obama? Shouldn’t they be condemning the obvious oversight by Pachauri? If anything, the deceptive practices employed by both the Climate Research Unit as well as the IPCC severely damage the credibility of the global warming movement. Yet, all we hear are crickets. Do the leaders of this hoax feel that additional media attention will only further hurt the cause they want our tax dollars to fix? Yet no one, except Pauchari himself, has even bothered to speak to the media about the circus the IPCC has become. And unless the tax-happy nations of the world that have bought into the global warming myth suddenly change their tune, the airwaves will continue to be silent on this issue. Silent airwaves will ensure that those ultimately responsible for these deceptive acts — and criminal practices in the case of the CRU — will only ensure this type of behavior will continue without opposition, or accountability.
