Wow.  Even this article admits that corn-based ethanol was a disaster.  At any rate, President Obama is pushing for an expansion of ethanol production even as biofuel-producing companies folded after tax credits expired in January.  Sounds like instead of producing this stuff, which obviously relies on government subsidies, maybe the technology should be explored and better understood to bring the cost down.
